Mapping & Geolocation services fundamentaly provide a way to convert text-based addresses into known locations within a system. This empowers us to provide innovative solutions to your business. Consider the following example:
A client of CRM Online had an issue where they provided home-based childcare to clients across multiple states within Australia. The company had an issue where potential clients would call up a central office and ask about the availability of childcare providers in a particular location. Since the office was located in NSW, but the company serviced most states across Australia, staff had no way of knowing the nearest carer or their availability.
After a consultation with CRM Online, we provided the following solution that utilised Google's Geolocation and Mapping services:
- When parents are entered into the system, their address details were geocoded and the associated GPS location was stored within the system
- The same was done for all carers within the system
- When a parent record is entered and displayed, the system takes this information and calculates the nearest 10 carers to a parent (a bit of calculus anyone?). Based on this information, the system also pulled the current workload of each carer so that the staff member could immediately see the best carer to recommend to the parent.
A similar solution has been provided to a number of other CRM Online clients that required location-based solutions for their business. In addition to the geolocation services leveraged above, CRM Online has also expanded the module to autocomplete all addresses witihin the system using Google's mapping API. This has the benefit of improving the efficiency of entry of addresses and also improving the accurancy of address information within the system.
